Build from source
Requirements
- macOS 14 or later
- Xcode 26 or later
- A free Apple developer account, to sign builds for your own Mac
Steps
Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/OvraBrowser/Ovra.git
cd OvraOpen the project
Open Ovra.xcodeproj in Xcode. Swift Package Manager fetches the dependencies (Sparkle, ASN1Decoder, TrackerRadarKit) automatically.
Choose your signing team
Select the Ovra target › Signing & Capabilities, and pick your own team.
Run
Choose the Ovra scheme and press ⌘ R.
Building from the command line
xcodebuild -project Ovra.xcodeproj -scheme Ovra -configuration Debug buildIf xcodebuild complains about the developer directory, point it at Xcode:
export DEVELOPER_DIR=/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/DeveloperDebug launch arguments
Add these in Scheme › Run › Arguments (Debug builds only):
| Argument | Effect |
|---|---|
-hasCompletedOnboarding NO | Show the first-launch intro and setup again, without touching saved data. |
-OvraDemoProfile | Start with an empty, in-memory database and sample favorites. Handy for screenshots. |
-profileName Alex | Override the name on the start page for this run. |
-selectedTheme "Forest Bloom" | Override the theme for this run. |
Adding files
The Xcode project lists its files explicitly. When you add a Swift file, make sure it’s added to the Ovra target.
